The Typographical Error of the Month Award goes to….
The University of Texas at Austin for the typo on the cover of the commencement program for the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Pubic Affairs.
“No one is laughing at the LBJ School” one dean was reported to have said. However, I’m sure that wasn’t entirely true.
The university corrected the typo to read “Public Affairs” and will distribute new programs.
Apparently this isn’t the first time for this kind of typo. A typesetter at the school in the 1970s admitted to making the same mistake on fliers posted around campus. Fortunately, that error was spotted before it became news.
A recommendation to the LBJ School is to put someone in charge of checking for the l in public on every document before it gets printed.
